Location and Accommodation

Swansea University is set in mature parkland and botanical gardens, overlooking Swansea Bay beach in south-west Wales, UK.

There’s stunning coastal scenery on our doorstep (we’re on the edge of the beautiful Gower Peninsula), yet we’re within easy reach of Swansea, which offers a thriving cultural scene and the best of modern city life.

This year’s conference will be hosted at the Swansea University Singleton Park Campus.

Travelling to Swansea:

Swansea University is easily accessible by road, rail, sea and air. For more information, please visit the university website: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/the-university/location/directions/.

Car parking:

There is no parking on campus available for day delegates unfortunately, if you need somewhere near university, we suggest you to park at Boating Lake car park.

Accommodation in Swansea:

Swansea has a wide range of hotels and guest houses to suit any budget.

There are some hotels located at the city centre of Swansea, such as Dragon Hotel, Morgan Hotel, and Marriott Hotel. Details of these hotels information can be found from the following here City centre hotel.

There are also 9 sea front B&B hotels run by private owner. They are located on the Oystermouth road, between the university and the city centre. For more information of these hotels, press here Sea front hotel.

All the hotels mentioned above are within 30 minutes walking distance to the Swansea University and within 10 minutes by taxi, 25 minutes by bus. As the BAAL Vocabulary SIG conference will be held a week before the university graduation ceremonies, we recommend you book your accommodation early.

Venue information:

The conference will be held at Swansea University. The address is Singleton Park, Swansea, SA2 8PP.

The conference will take place in basement of the James Callaghan Building (no. 4 on thecampus map).

  • Rooms are equipped with PC computer, data projector.
  • PCs have MS Office 2010 and Acrobat Reader X

Swansea University is part of the EDUROAM wireless network. If your own university is part of EDUROAM, you will be able to log on to our wireless network. We will also have a number of guest usernames and passwords available.

On campus, there are a number of catering outlets and two cash machines. Please note: You cannot buy anything on campus with cash in the evenings. Please contact us for more information if necessary.
